Born in Chicago, Ill., Leah Wilson moved to Iowa City, Iowa, in 1983 where she attended the University of Iowa. She began her studies as a business major but changed her emphasis to social work, graduating in 1987 with a B.S. in Sociology. While a student, Wilson was active in her church choir and Voices of Soul, a university affiliated choral group. She was also a member of the Black Student Association and served as a counselor for the university's Upward Bound Program. ...

Himie Voxman is among UI's most honored faculty and administrators. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the UI with high distinction in 1933, and received a master's degree in 1934 in the psychology of music, studying with pioneering researcher Carl Seashore.
